Extender Slope Control

Center of Screed Extenders (1) Extender slope motor (2) Extender slope lug (3) Slope adjust screw (4) Slope stopThe screed is equipped with an extender slope control mechanism for each extender. The slope control mechanism rotates the extender structure to adjust mat slope behind the extender. Electric extender slope motor (1) powers the slope control mechanism. The motor is located toward the center of the main screed.Note: The slope mechanism on each extender operates in the same manner. The right extender mechanism is shown in the illustration.Extender slope motor (1) is an electric motor with gear reduction. The motor is bidirectional. Direction of the motor is controlled by the extender slope control switches on the corresponding operator station.Extender slope motor (1) drives slope adjust screw (3). The slope adjust screw is mounted to the main screed. The rod end of the screw is connected to extender slope lug (2). As the slope adjust screw rotates in either direction, the extender slope lug raises or lowers. This action causes the extender to rotate to adjust the slope angle.Slope stop (4) is used to set the extender to zero-slope. The stop must be rotated outward to allow negative slope adjustment.

Left Frame of Main Screed (5) Left slope up relay (6) Left slope down relay (7) Right slope up relay (8) Right slope down relayFour slope relays (5), (6), (7), and (8) are located on the fuse and relay panel. These relays control the rotation direction of the slope adjust motors.When left slope up relay (5) is energized, the left slope adjust motor rotation retracts the left slope adjust screw. This action decreases the left extender slope angle. When left slope down relay (6) is energized, the left adjust motor rotation extends the adjust screw. This action increases the left extender slope angle.When right slope up relay (7) is energized, the right slope adjust motor rotation retracts the right slope adjust screw. This action decreases the right extender slope angle. When right slope down relay (8) is energized, the right adjust motor rotation extends the adjust screw. This action increases the right extender slope angle.Slope up relays (5) and (7) and slope down relays (6) and (8) are controlled by output signals from the screed ECM. The left operator station and right operator station of the screed generate the slope control input signals to the screed ECM to control these relays. The slope control switches on the left operator station control the left extender slope. The slope control switches on the right operator station control the right extender slope.

Main Screed (9) Extender slope scaleExtender slope scale (9) is located on each side of the main screed. The slope scale indicates the approximate slope setting in percent.On vibratory screeds, when the extender is in a zero slope condition, the slope angle can be increased to 10-percent or decreased to negative 3-percent.Note: In order to attain a negative angle, bottom slope stop (4) must be moved.Extender slope scale
