Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. To help prevent possible injury, turn the start switch off when changing fuel filters or water separator elements. Clean up fuel spills immediately.
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.
Open the engine enclosure.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

Loosen the clamps and remove hoses (3).
Drain water separator (5). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel Tank Water and Sediment - Drain" for the correct draining procedure.
Remove water separator (5) from fuel filter (4).
Use Tooling (A) to remove fuel filter (4) from fuel filter base (2).
Remove bolts (1) and fuel filter base (2). Installation Procedure

Install water separator (5) in the reverse order of removal.
Use Tooling (A) to install fuel filter (4) to fuel filter base (2).
Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel Tank Water and Sediment - Drain" for the correct filling procedure.
