Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Main
Remove the screed. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Screed - Remove and Install".
Remove the deflector plates (strike-off) for the main screed. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Deflector Plates (Strike-off) - Remove and Install".

Disconnect three hydraulic hoses (1) from gear motor (tamper bar) (2).
Remove four bolts (3), the four washers, and gear motor (tamper bar) (2).Extender
Start the engine.
Raise the screed.
Engage the travel locks.
Lower the tow arms onto the travel locks.
Fully extend the extenders.
Stop the engine.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

Disconnect three hydraulic hoses (6) from gear motor (tamper bar) (5).
Remove four bolts (4), the four washers, and gear motor (tamper bar) (5).Installation Procedure
Install gear motor (tamper bar) (5) and gear motor (tamper bar) (2) in the reverse order of removal.
Apply Tooling (A) to the splines of gear motor (tamper bar) (5) and gear motor (tamper bar) (2) prior to installation.
