General InformationThe water spray system distributes water to the drums to prevent asphalt from sticking during operation. Each drum is equipped with a spray bar. The spray bars are mounted to the front of the front drum and to the rear of the rear drum. The electrical system allows the water spray system to operate continuously or intermittently. The water spray system is divided into sections. The water spray system contains an electrical section and a hydraulic section. The electrical section is made up of an ECM, associated input and output devices, operator display, switches, relays and and two electric pumps. The hydraulic section consists of a water tank, drain valves, water filter, front and rear spray bars, two electric pumps and an antifreeze bottle.

The red lines indicate an output signal. The red and blue lines indicate two-way communications.Machine ECM number "one" (1) monitors input signals from the following components in order to control the water system:
Keypad (3)
Propel lever (4)
Water level sender (7) The water spray enable switch is located on propel lever (4). Machine ECM number "one" (1) also uses direction input from the propel lever in the control logic for the water spray system. The propel lever provides input from the water spray enable switch to the ECM through the CAN lines.Keypad (3) contains several control switches for the water spray system. The keypad communicates with machine ECM number "one" (1) through the CAN lines.Machine ECM number "one" (1) monitors input signals from keypad (3) for the water mode switch, water spray timer increase switch and the water spray timer decrease switches. The ECM evaluates the input signals and determines if an output should be sent to number "one" water pump relay (6) or number "two" water pump relay (5) .Machine ECM number "one" (1) monitors input signals from water level sender (7). The level of the water in the tank is represented on display (2) .Machine ECM number "one" (1) uses display (2) in order to provide information to the operator about the water spray system during operation.
