Remove Crankshaft Rear Seal Ring And Thrower
start by:a) remove flywheel 1. Remove the bolts, the locks and baffle (1). 2. Remove seal ring (2) from thrower (3). 3. Install tooling (A) on thrower (3). Heat the outer diameter of the thrower with an open flame to a maximum temperature of 400°F (204°C). Put force on the thrower immediately with tool (A). Remove the thrower.Install Crankshaft Rear Seal Ring And Thrower
Do not use an old thrower that has been removed from the crankshaft.
1. Heat thrower (1) to a maximum temperature of 300°F (149°C). Use tooling (A) to install the thrower on the crankshaft. Make sure the thrower is against the flange of the crankshaft.
TYPICAL EXAMPLE2. Install tooling (B) on the flywheel housing. Put the indicator on the seal ring groove face of the thrower. Turn the crankshaft and check the seal ring groove alignment (runout). The seal ring groove alignment (runout) must not be more than .006 in. (0.15 mm).3. Put clean SAE 30 oil on the seal ring and the surface that the seal ring makes contact with. 4. Install seal ring (2) with the opening at the top and the face of the seal with the word "OUT" toward the flywheel. 5. Put baffle (3) in position.
