In these circumstances it is important that the FP40+ does not over-print the pre-printed areas of the form because this can cause a build-up of particles on the print head that will lead to premature print head failure and invalidate the product warranty.Paper used by the FP40+ has a chemically treated surface that allows it to accept marks printed thermally by the print head. Over time, tiny particles of this thermal dye will collect on the print head and on the platen roller and case smudges or streaks on the paper. To clean the print head and the platen roller you should use clean lint-free cloth or a cotton bud moistened lightly with isopropyl alcohol (IPA). Do not use solvents to clean the printer case.
To avoid damage to the printer, always allow the IPA to evaporate completely from the printer components before you release the print head release lever or before you insert paper.Use only IPA to clean the print head and the platen roller-other types of solvent might damage the printer.
