Information:

The robust design of the FP40+ allows you to use it in harsh environments. This design also means that the printer requires minimal running maintenance. However, to ensure optimal print quality and to extend the lift of the print head you should perform the simple procedures explained in this chapter. Many applications for the FP40+ involve printing on paper that already bears a pre-printed form. In these circumstances it is important that the FP40+ does not over-print the pre-printed areas of the form because this can cause a build-up of particles on the print head that will lead to premature print head failure and invalidate the product warranty.Paper used by the FP40+ has a chemically treated surface that allows it to accept marks printed thermally by the print head. Over time, tiny particles of this thermal dye will collect on the print head and on the platen roller and case smudges or streaks on the paper. You should therefore inspect these components regularly, for example whenever you fit a new roll of paper. Clean them if necessary.Cleaning
To clean the print head and the platen roller you should use clean lint-free cloth or a cotton bud moistened lightly with isopropyl alcohol (IPA). Do not use solvents to clean the printer case.
To avoid damage to the printer, always allow the IPA to evaporate completely from the printer components before you release the print head release lever or before you insert paper.Use only IPA to clean the print head and the platen roller-other types of solvent might damage the printer.
To clean your printer you should first clean the print head and then clean the platen roller. Clean the outer case using a damp cloth.Clean the print head
1. Open the rear panel of the printer and remove the paper roll and the battery as described, beginning on page 13.2. Without refitting the rear panel, turn the printer over and place it face upwards on a well-lit surface3. With one hand, lift the right-hand side of the printer and press the print hand release lever. The paper output slot will open slightly to reveal the thermal print head. It is then possible to see any contamination or deposits of black thermal dye on the print head.4. Use a lint-free cloth or cotton bud moistened lightly
