Information:
Note: If excessive cylinder drift is noted, run the following tests in order to determine the cause.
Test 1 Tip out the ripper until the tip cylinders are fully retracted. Lower the ripper until the lift cylinders are fully extended in order to raise the machine. Put the ripper control lever in HOLD position. Shut off the engine and watch the ripper tip cylinder rods for movement.
Test 2 Tip out the ripper until the tip cylinders are fully retracted. Lower the ripper until the lift cylinders are fully extended in order to raise the machine. Shut off the engine. Turn the key to the ON position. Put the ripper control lever in TIP OUT position. Watch the ripper tip cylinder rods for movement. Note: The accumulator for the pilot oil will supply pilot oil for 2 minutes. As a result, for Test 2 only use the 1.7 minute value in Table 10.
Table 11
Test Results Most Probable Causes
Drifting occurs only in Test No. 1. Leakage between ripper lift valve spool and body (HOLD position)
Drifting occurs only in Test No. 2. The load check valve is leaking.
The flow control valve is leaking.
Drifting occurs in Test No. 1 and No. 2. Leakage between the piston and cylinder
Leakage between ripper lift valve spool and body (HOLD and TIP OUT positions)
The makeup valve is leaking. Note: Remember that an O-ring seal failure in the circuit has the same effect as a major component failure.Steering Hydraulic System
Steering Turn Diameter Check
Move the machine to an open area that is flat and dry. The ground conditions must limit the amount of track slip when the machine is turning.
Start the engine. Operate the engine at HIGH IDLE. Raise all of the implements to the full RAISE position. Return the controls to the HOLD position.
Release the parking brake. Put the transmission in FIRST GEAR FORWARD.
Move the steering control handle to the full STEER LEFT position. Keep all implement controls in the HOLD position.
Make a full turn of 360 degrees.
Stop the machine after the full turn. Lower all of the implements to the ground. Stop the engine.

(A) Diameter of the turn
Measure distance (A), as shown. Distance (A). See Illustration 1. Distance (A) should be 1.4 to 2.0 m (4.6 to 6.6 ft).
Repeat Steps 7 through 8 with the steering control handle in the STEER RIGHT position.
If the distances in Steps 7 and in 8 are within the specification, the steering hydraulic system is operating correctly. If the distances in Steps 7 and 8 are not within the specification, proceed to Step 10.
Refer to Troubleshooting, KENR8957, "Steering System" in order to help diagnose the steering system.
