General
1. Move the vehicle to the desired location. Lower front mounted equipment to ground. 2. Lower stabilizers to ground. Apply some down force. 3. Remove transport safety pins and put in storage holes. 4. Depress the up-down lever and pull seat up to clear arm rests. 5. Rotate seat to backhoe operating position.6. Push seat down until seat lock engages.
Always wear seat belt when operating backhoe.Inspect condition of seat belt and mounting hardware. Replace any defective or worn components.
7. Sit on seat and adjust seat forward or backward. Fasten seat belt after adjusting seat to desired position.Digging
Change engine RPM to increase or decrease backhoe cycle time. (See CAUTION on page 16.) 1. Position stick as shown above. 2. Set bucket cutting edge to approximately a 30° angle with the ground. 3. Pull back on swing and stick control lever to move stick in. 4. Adjust depth of cut by raising boom slightly and/or curling bucket, if stick travel stops due to load. 5. Raising the boom slightly while the stick is traveling will release down pressure on the bucket. This will allow stick arm force to be applied to the cutting edge. 6. Continue the pass with the cutting edge traveling in a horizontal direction, peeling material into the bucket. 7. Keep the stick and boom approximately 90° to each other for maximum breakout force. 8. Lift bucket at completion of pass by pulling back on bucket and boom control lever. Curl bucket at the same time to keep the load level. 9. Pull back on swing and stick control lever to position the stick vertically while hoisting. Swing load when bucket clears all obstructions. 10. As boom approaches proper dumping height, engage swing and stick control to extend the stick and the bucket and boom control to open the bucket to dump the load. 11. Clean up trench at final depth to minimize hand labor. 12. Move the vehicle whenever the digging position is not efficient. Raise bucket and boom for necessary clearance. Raise stabilizers and move vehicle as necessary. 13. Adjust throttle if necessary to increase or decrease response time and travel speed of the boom, stick and bucket.
Reduce engine RPM if hydraulic oil temperature is in RED (Hot) range. If oil temperature does not return to GREEN (normal) range, shut engine off.
Observe hydraulic oil level. Oil level should be 3/4 up from bottom of sight gauge. Add oil if necessary. Inspect hoses and lines for damage or loose connections. Inspect for any other line restrictions.Operating Hints
Do not use an oversized bucket or one equipped with blade-type side cutters in rocky material. It will slow down the cycle time and may damage the bucket and other backhoe components.Warm up machine slowly. Engine and hydraulic oil must be warm before operating. Refer to BEFORE OPERATING.Position bucket for proper tooth angle for digging. Scratch ground surface until bucket teeth are able to penetrate surface.Dump the soil back from the edge of the trench to avoid spillage and to
