Transmission control linkage adjustment should be made only with the engine OFF. Accidental transmission engagement and sudden machine movement could cause personal injury.
The 3/8 in. locknuts (jam nuts), that hold the rod ends in place on the rods, must be tightened to a torque of 9 3 lb. ft. (12 4 N m). The correct torque for all of the 1/2 in. locknuts is 33 5 lb. ft. (45 7 N m) All rod assembly measurements must be made in a straight line between the centerlines of the rod end mounting holes.Linkage For Transmission Controls
The correct assembled length for rod assembly (A) is 7.95 .06 in. (202.0 1.5 mm).1. Adjust the linkage so that control lever (1) does not make contact with the aluminum cover in any forward or reverse gear or in neutral. a. Loosen the bolts that hold flange (4) to the housing.b. Loosen locknut (6) for the cable that needs to be adjusted. Turn cable adjuster (5) for the cable that needs to be adjusted. To move transmission control lever (1) to either side (right or left), adjust directional cable (2). An adjustment of speed cable (3) will move the control lever to the front or rear.
