Location of parts used to preload drum bearings. The 6T9069 Locknut (2) is shown in this illustration. This locknut is used only on winches equipped with "FREESPOOL." On all other winches the 5F3353 is used at this location.Adjustment Procedure For Winches With Freespool (Drum Disconnect)
1. Install collar (4) and nut (5) on the shaft assembly. Tighten the nut to a torque of 680 70 N m (500 50 lb ft). See the illustration.2. Install flange (3) on the shaft assembly without shims (8) and O-ring seal (9).3. Install bolt (6) in locknut (2). Tighten the bolt 1/8 to 1/4 turn after the head of the bolt makes contact with the locknut. Install collar (7) and locknut (2) on the shaft assembly. Make sure the locknut turns freely on the shaft assembly.4. Tighten locknut (2) to a torque of 70 7 N m (50 5 lb ft). Use a feeler gauge to measure the gap between the face of flange (3) and the winch case.5. Remove locknut (2), collar (7) and flange (3). Put clean oil on O-ring seal (9) and put it in position on flange (3).6. Install flange (3) in the case with an amount of shims (8) the same thickness as the gap measured in Step 4 plus 0.05 to 0.15 mm (.002 to .006").7. Install bolts (1). Tighten these bolts to a torque of 43 7 N m (32 5 lb ft).8. Install collar (7) and locknut (2) on the shaft assembly. Tighten locknut (2) to a torque of 70 7 N m (50 5 lb ft). Tighten bolt (6) to a torque of 24 7 N m (18 5 lb ft).Adjustment Procedure For Winches Without Freespool (Drum Disconnect)
