ACTION REQUIRED
For D7E Track-Type Tractors listed in the Affected Product, refer to the following procedure:
1. Compare the D7E software listed in Image1 with the software currently installed on the machine.
2. Update the software as required.
a. If no software update is required, go to Step 3.
b. If an update of the monitor software is required, update the boot code software first. Follow the procedure listed under Rework Procedure for installing the 394-1112 Boot Software.
Note: Go to SIS Web to make sure that the new flash file part number is still the latest flash file part number. A newer flash file part number may be available.
Note: Before using Communications Adapter 3 (CA3), make sure that the PC drivers and CA3 firmware have been updated. CA3 news, drivers, and firmware are available at https://dealer.cat.com/.
Note: Always use the latest version of Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) for the best machine software support.
3. Download a project status report using ET and attached this document to service claim.

Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
Installing the 394-1112 Boot Software
- Interruption of power during the upgrade will render the display permanently inoperable.
Note: This procedure must be performed before other software updates or the software may not update properly
1. Download the boot upgrade utility 394-1112 Software by navigating to SIS Web / Service Software Files / Flash Files (ECM Software Files) / View All Flash Files and search for 3941112.fls
2. Connect to the Message Display with WinFlash (ET) and flash the boot upgrade utility flash file to replace the current application flash file.
3. The Message Display will reboot once flashing is complete.
4. The following message should appear: "Display Boot Installer Part Number: 3941112-00"
5. Press the OK key on the right hand side of the display to continue.
6. A message should appear showing the current boot code version and the new boot code version that is to replace the old version.
7. Press the OK key to continue.
8. A message will appear warning that power interruption during the upgrade can render the display inoperable. Press the OK key to program the new boot code.
9. The following message will appear: "Programming Boot File SUCCEEDED. Please download new Application"
10. Connect to the Message Display with WinFlash(ET) and flash the display with the 373-2056 Monitor Software.
