Place the "power/setup" switch on the AccuGrade Laser display in the "OFF" position.
Place the key start switch for the machine and the disconnect switch for the machine in the "OFF" position.
Disconnect the 6 pin connector on the display.
Disconnect the 6 pin connector on the CAN end of the valve module.
Measure the resistance between pin C on the display end of the harness and pin C on the CAN end of the harness connector.
Measure the resistance between pin D on the display end of the harness and pin D on the CAN end of the harness connector.Expected Result:The measured resistance is less than 5 Ohms.Results:
OK - The measured resistance is less than 5 Ohms. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The measured resistance is greater than 5000 Ohms.Repair: Repair the harness or replace the harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE TERMINATION RESISTOR.
The "power/setup" switch on the AccuGrade Laser display remains in the OFF position.
The key start switch and the disconnect switch for the machine remain in the "OFF" position.
Disconnect the 3-pin connector from both of the termination resistors.
Measure the resistance between contact A (wire L854-YL) and contact B (wire L855-GN) for both resistors. Note the resistance.Expected Result:The resistance measurements are 120 12 ohms.Results:
YES - The resistance measurements are 120 12 ohms. Reconnect the resistors.Repair: If the diagnostic code "EM 13" is still active, repeat this test procedure. If the problem continues to occur, contact your Technical communicator for a possible consultation with Caterpillar.STOP
NO - One or both resistance measurements are NOT 120 12 ohms. Repair: Replace the termination resistor(s) that did not measure 120 12 ohms.STOP
