36. Turn flange (42) over. Remove twelve bolts (44) and gear (43) from flange (42).37. Use tooling (F) and a press to remove sleeve (45) from flange (42). 38. Remove O-ring seal (48). Remove six bolts (46) and two plates (49). Remove race (47). 39. Use tool (G) to remove retaining ring (52). Remove bearing assembly (50) from carrier (51). 40. Remove bolt (53), retainer (55), O-ring seal and yoke assembly (54). 41. Remove twelve bolts (57) and distributor (58) from carrier (51).42. Fasten tool (H) to the end of shaft (56) with bolt (53). Use a hoist to raise shaft (56) and carrier (51) off of the wooden blocks 13 mm (.50 in).43. Use a soft hammer to remove carrier (51) from shaft (56). The weight of carrier (51) is 41 kg (90 lb). The weight of shaft (56) is 38 kg (84 lb). 44. Remove lip-type seal (59) from distributor (58). 45. Remove seal (60) from carrier (63). Remove two seals (62) from carrier (61). 46. Use tooling (C) and a press to remove carrier (61), bearing (64) and carrier (63) from shaft. Use wooden blocks under shaft (56) in order to prevent the shaft from falling. 47. Remove two seal rings (65) from carrier (51).48. Use tool (G) and remove retaining ring (67). Remove bearing (66) from carrier (51). The following steps are for the assembly of the torque converter.49. Install bearing (66) and retaining ring (67) on carrier (51).50. Install two seal rings (65) on carrier (51). Lubricate the seals with clean engine oil.51. Heat carrier (63), bearing (64) and carrier (61) to a maximum temperature of 135° C (275° F) and install on shaft (56).52. Install seal (60) on carrier (63). Install seals (62) on carrier (61). Lubricate the seals with clean engine oil.53. Use tooling (C) and a press to install lip-type seal (59) in distributor (58).54. Position carrier (51) on wooden blocks. Fasten tool (H) to the end of shaft (56) with bolt (53). Use a hoist and lower shaft (56) into carrier (51). Use a soft hammer, if necessary, to seat bearing (64) against the shoulder in carrier (51).55. Put distributor (58) on carrier (51) and install twelve bolts (57). Tighten bolts (57) to a
