Introduction
The Problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.Problem
The Caterpillar CB linkage Quick Hitch Quick Coupler uses a bolted flag arrangement in order to retain the stick and the link pins in the top part of the coupler.
Illustration 1 g01337426
(1) LockThe coupler has locks or threaded pins welded to the side of the coupler arms, next to the stick and link bores. A bolt is used to retain the flag on the stick and link pin to the coupler. This coupler lock was originally designed to suit bolts of M16 thread. Caterpillar has determined that this thread should be increased to M20.Solution
Illustration 2 g01337429
(1) Lock
Use a 17.5 mm drill to enlarge the hole in the center of each lock to a depth of 40 mm from the end of the lock.
Use a M20 x 2.5 mm pitch tap to create the internal thread in both locks.
Clear the debris from the hole in both locks.
Install the bolt into the holes in order to check the thread depth. Tap the bore to a greater depth if required.
