Introduction
The 4E9478 Travel Alarm Service Group is adaptable to all of the above listed excavators. This Special Instruction provides the necessary parts and installation information needed to install the alarm service group.Do not perform any procedure, outlined in this publication, or order any parts until you read and understand the information contained within.Reference: Service Manual, Parts Manual, Operation and Maintenance Manual.Parts Needed
Installation
Typical travel alarm installation location.1. Install 4D6267 Block by welding in place to the underside of upper structure at the location shown.2. Mount the 8P8845 Alarm Assembly to the block using 7X0291 Bolts and 5P1075 Washers.3. Connect 9D6511 Wire Assembly to the top wire of the alarm assembly. Terminate other end of wire assembly under one of the mounting bolts as shown.4. Remove 1K3073 Knob from 3V1925 Steering Lever Assembly. 5. Install 3V5369 Knob onto steering lever.6. Install 3D9718 Switch Assembly onto 3V5368 Plug. Tighten switch to 6.8 1.4 N m (5 1 lb ft).7. Install 3V9023 Wire Assembly by pulling the wire assembly through the forward/reverse lever (the end without the connector). Connect the black/red wire of wire assembly to one side of 3D9718 Switch Assembly. Connect the black wire to the opposite side of the switch. Install the switch assembly into knob as shown. 8. Install the 9P1813 Timer Assembly on the underside of the operator's platform using 8T9364 Bolts and 5P4115 Washers.All Excavators With Heavy Lift Arrangement Only
9. Remove plug from speed and direction pilot control valve.10. Install 5P3501 Pipe Adapter into tapped hole of pilot valve.11. Install 9D7032 Pressure Switch Assembly into pipe adapter.All Excavators Without Heavy Lift Arrangement
12. Disconnect and remove 2V8909 Tube Assembly between speed and direction pilot control valve and bulkhead. 13. Install 3V8868 Tube Assembly and 3J1907 O-ring Seal into pilot valve where 2V8909 Tube Assembly was removed.14. Install 7K4128 Tee onto 3V8868 Tube Assembly.15. Install 3V8869 Tube Assembly between tee and bulkhead.16. Install 8S7169 Pipe Coupling onto tee. Install 9D7032 Pressure Switch Assembly into coupling. 17. Install the 8V9260 Harness Assembly by:* Connecting the two pin connector of 3V9023 Wire Assembly to the two pin connector of the 8V9260 Harness.* Connecting the five pin connector of the timer to the five pin connector of the harness.* Connecting the black/white wire of the harness assembly to a screw terminal on one side of the pressure switch.* Connecting black wire of the harness assembly to the screw terminal on the opposite side of the pressure switch.* Connecting black wire from the harness assembly to a common ground connection on the warning console.* Connecting + voltage connection of the horn switch to the red wire of the harness assembly.* Connecting one pin connector of the harness assembly to 3V9022 Wire Assembly.* Connecting opposite end of 3V9022 Wire Assembly to black wire of back up alarm.Refer to the Electrical Schematic in the Service Manual Module, SENR3874, for a typical wiring diagram.
