Typical exampleWhen possible, position the work tool upright. The work tool should only be positioned in this manner on a solid, level surface. If a solid level surface is not available, lay the work tool on a side.
Ensure that the cylinder is fully extended. The jaws of the work tool should be closed. Failure to close the jaws could result in injury during this procedure.

Remove the bolt and cover (1). Repeat this step for the other side of the work tool.

Disconnect hose assembly (3) and hose assembly (2) from the hydraulic cylinder. Remove the hydraulic fittings from the hydraulic cylinder.

Disconnect hose assembly (4) and remove the hydraulic fitting from the hydraulic cylinder.

Disconnect hose assembly (2) and (5) from valve (6). Remove the bolts and valve (6) .

Remove the eight bolts, the washers, and the half flanges that secure hose assemblies (3) and (4) to the swivel. Remove spacers (9) and the O-ring seals.

Use Tooling (A) in order to remove retaining ring (11). Remove retaining ring (11), the pin assembly, and cover (10) .
Remove the two bolts and the washers that secure nut (12). Use Tooling (B) to remove nut (12) .

Place a wood block between the cylinder and the jaw for support. Ensure that the block is a tight fit. Use a large hammer and a brass drift in order to remove pin (13). The weight of pin (13) is approximately 35 kg (77 lb).

Install an appropriate nylon lifting sling and a hoist to hydraulic cylinder (14). Place a shop towel between the sling and hydraulic cylinder (14) in order to prevent damage to the sling. The weight of the hydraulic cylinder (14) is approximately 600 kg (1323 lb). Move hydraulic cylinder (14) to a perpendicular position with the ground. Keep a sufficient amount of tension on hydraulic cylinder (14) in order to remove the hydraulic cylinder mounting.

Remove 12 bolts (15) and the washers that secure bushing (16) to the lower housing. Repeat this step for the other side of the work tool.

Install two M16 x 2.0 guide studs (17) and two M20 x 2.5 forcing screws (18) to bushing (16). Use the forcing screws to remove the bushing. The weight of bushing (16) is approximately 26 kg (57 lb). Repeat this step for the other side of the work tool.
Remove the cylinder from the work tool.
