Introduction
This Special Instruction provides the parts and information needed to install a drift reduction valve to the stick cylinder circuit. This procedure is applicable to the E70B Excavator equipped with a parallel offset type boom. When used in combination with the boom drift reduction valve, the drift of the front implements resulting from natural leakage through the main control valve is minimized. It is effective in lifting and load holding applications if cylinder drift is a problem. For best results, install the stick cylinder drift reduction valve in combination with the boom drift reduction valve. The E70B Excavator can be equipped with identical cylinder drift reduction valves for three cylinder lines of offset boom, boom and stick.
Machines equipped with drift reduction valves can have high pressure oil remaining in hydraulic cylinder lines for long periods of time, even after all implements have been grounded.Sudden release of high pressure oil can cause injury.Follow established procedures to purge the pressure before attempting to remove or disconnect hydraulic lines.
Do not perform any procedure, outlined in this publication, or order any parts until you read and understand the information contained within.Reference: Service Manual, Parts Manual, Special Instruction, SEHS9526, Installation Of Drift Reduction Valve To Boom Cylinder Circuit and Special Instruction, SEHS9463, Installation Of Drift Reduction Valve To Offset Boom Circuit.E70B Parts Needed
Procedure
1. Park the machine on level ground. Release the pressure in the hydraulic lines.
