1. Remove brace (2) and fan guards (1).2. Loosen the tension on the fan and alternator belts. 3. Pull the belts clear of the pulleys. Move belts (3) by the radiator shield and each fan blade tip and remove the belts. The following steps are for installation of the fan and alternator belts. Make a replacement of the belts as a set only.4. Move each belt (3) by the radiator shield and each fan blade tip. Put the belts in position on the pulleys.5. Make an adjustment to the belt tension with tool (A). Measure the belt farthest from the engine. Tighten new belts until gauge indication is 534 22 N (120 5 lb.). Operate the engine at high idle for a minimum of 30 minutes. Make another adjustment of the belt tension. The correct gauge indication for a used belt is 400 44 N (90 10 lb.). Tighten the bolts that hold the alternator in position.6. Install fan guards (1) and brace (2).
