Introduction
This test will determine whether the cause for the E03 error code is an actual hydraulic overheating problem or a malfunction of the hydraulic temperature sensor circuit. To check for Real Time error code E03 it is necessary to operate the machine to cause the hydraulic system to overheat since error code E03 is not logged by the controller.Check hydraulic oil temperature after machine has operated some period of time and before the system is allowed to cool down. Use the gauge on the monitor panel or the 8T-0470 Thermistor Thermometer Group.1. Check hydraulic oil temperature and for error codes E03 and E27.a. Start "Service Program, Data Mode" and go to hydraulic oil temperature mode.b. Record temperature shown on the monitor display.c. Using the 8T-0470 Thermistor Thermometer Group (refer to, Special Instruction Form SEHS8446), check the hydraulic oil temperature.d. Compare temperature readings.e. Check for error code E03 or E27.Reference: Refer to, "Service Operations, Data Mode" Form SENR6155 for additional information. Expected Result:Normal hydraulic system operating temperature should be 27 to 38°C (80 to 100°F) above ambient temperature and should not exceed 95°C (203°F). Results:* OK - STOP.* TEMPERATURE NOT OK - Proceed to Step 3.* TEMPERATURE OK, E03/E27 PRESENT - Proceed to Step 4.3. Perform Hydraulic Oil Temperature Test. For further information refer to the section, "Hydraulic Oil Temperature Test". Results:* REPAIRED, OK - STOP.* OK - Cause for problem not found with this test. The test equipment may be faulty, a repair may have been made incorrectly, or an error may have been made during the diagnosis of this problem. Check to determine whether or not the problem is still present. If it is, repeat test procedure. STOP.4. Perform Hydraulic Oil Temperature Sensor Circuit Test. For further information refer to, "Troubleshooting Detected Faults, E-27 - Hydraulic Oil Temperature Sensor Circuit Is Shorted To Body Ground" Form SENR6155. Results:* REPAIRED, OK - STOP.* OK - Cause for problem not found with this test.
