Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Cleaner - Remove and Install".
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.

Loosen muffler clamp (1) from muffler (2) .
Remove three nuts (4). Remove flex pipe (3) from exhaust manifold (6). Remove gasket (5) .

Loosen muffler clamp (7) .

Remove four bolts (8) which secure muffler (2) to the firewall. Note: Bolts (8) can be removed from the other side of the firewall.
Remove muffler (1) from the machine. The weight of muffler (1) is 7.6 kg (17 lb).Installation Procedure

Install muffler clamp (7) onto muffler (2). Do not tighten muffler clamp (7) at this time.
Install muffler (2) onto exhaust pipe at the firewall. Weight of the muffler is 7.6 kg (17 lb).

Install muffler clamp (7) onto muffler (2). Do not tighten muffler clamp (7) at this time.
Install flex pipe (3) onto muffler (2) .
Install new gasket (5) on exhaust manifold (6) .
Install flex pipe (3) onto exhaust manifold (6). Install three nuts (4). Do not tighten at this time.

Install four bolts (8) in order to secure muffler (1) to the firewall.
Tighten three nuts (4), and muffler clamp (2) and (7) .
