(3) Measurement of roughness of sliding section 1. Place the part to be measured on a level board.2. Place the detector needle on the object to be measured, insert a shim between the level surface plate and the object to be measured so that the entire area to be measured comes within the range of the detector, and adjust the horizontal balance.3. Move the detector over the object to be measured, and record the surface roughness on a recorder.4. Measure in 2 or 3 places, and take the largest value.The following are the sliding surfaces which need to be measured. (4) Cylinder bore measurement 1. Attach and indicator (dial gauge: JIS B 7509 1mm or 0.03937") to the cylinder gauge (Fig. A at left).2. Place a measuring element and rod in contact with a ring gauge (inner diameter 28mm or 1.10236"). Then adjust the scale plate so that the minimum reading of the long needle on the dial gauge will be 0 (Fig. B at left).3. Measure the bore (Fig. C at left). * In measuring the bore, hold the handle and shake the outer cylinder up and down at least 3 times, then read the smallest indicated value.* In making the measurement and in the 0 adjustment, when shaking the outer cylinder keep the tip of the pressing rod in contact with the same point on the inner circumference, and move only the measuring element.* Since the inner diameter is measured in comparison with an object of standard length, if the distance being measured is shorter than the standard object, then, in contrast to the case of an ordinary measurement, since the indicator needle moves clockwise, it is necessary to consider how to determine the sign (plus or minus) with respect to the standard object. * Photograph of cylinder bore measurement. (5) Piston outer diameter measurement 1. Grasp the piston between the measurement surfaces of an anvil and spindle, and measure (d1, d2 and d3). * Starting just before contact is made with the section being measured, feed the spindle forward with a ratchet stop; continue for 3 or 4 clicks after first contact is made, then clamp in position and read the indicated value.* Measure in both X and Y directions at 3 locations d1, d2 and d3. (6) Measurement of play in the caulked part of the piston and shoe (the jig for measuring play is shown in the figure at left). 1. Mount piston (121) and shoe (122) on the jig.2. Insert the stem of the jig dial gauge, and fix it in place with an M6 hexagon socket bolt. * At this time, make sure that the measuring element at the tip of the dial gauge is in contact with a 28.5mm (1.12204") diameter, 2mm (0.07874") thick steel plate.
