Select the "Start" button on the task bar, and then select "Settings\Control Panel". The "Control Panel" screen opens.

Select the Network icon. The "Network" screen opens.

Select the "Protocols" tab in the Network screen.
Select "TCP/IP protocol".
Select the "Properties" button.
If the IP address is to be configured manually with information provided by a Network Administrator, then proceed to step 14. if the IP address will be configured automatically using a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server, then continue with step 11.

In the "IP Address" tab, select the "Obtain an IP address from the DHCP server" button.
Select the "OK" button .Note: During the reboot, the display will automatically request an IP address from the DHCP Server. Once the display is running, verify and record the IP address of the display.Note: After a few months, the DHCP server may assign the display a new IP address. This address will cause communication problems because Cat MineStar System uses the IP address to identify the machine. In order to prevent this problem, request that your Network Administrator configures the DHCP server so that the recorded IP address is always used for the display.
Proceed to step 16.

In the "IP Address" tab, select the "Specify an IP Address" button.
Enter the pertinent information that was supplied by your Network Administrator in the following fields:
IP Address
Subnet Mask
Default Gateway
Close all open screens.
Restart the display.Verify the IP Address
Perform the following steps to verify the IP address of the display.Note: If any changes to the IP address have been performed, then ensure that the display has been restarted.

Select the "Start" button on the task bar and then Select "Run".

Type "cmd" in the Run dialog. The "Command" screen appears.

Type "ipconfig" at the command prompt in the Command screen. The Ethernet IP address, subnet mask, and gateway are displayed.Incorrect Dates
If the date 1January 1999 appears in the display, there is a problem with the CMOS battery. This problem may affect:
Date and Time reported in CAESultra
Times recorded in productivity files

In CAESultra, the error message in Illustration 21 is displayed if the time on the display is set to earlier than 2008.

In Cat MineStar System, an error message is displayed with a red "X" in the "Messages" screen as shown in Illustration 22.The text in the message will be like the following:"CMOS Battery Failure on machine compactor, 85, Productivity from file Prod02Jun1970 will not be imported to database!"This problem occurs when the CMOS battery in the D3:C4 Nav v10.4 display is unable to supply the display with power when turned off. The display is unable to store the current time and date. This problem could be due to battery failure or a broken circuit to the battery. With no way of knowing the time, the hardware will default to 1January 1999.Note: Users are advised to contact a Caterpillar distributor to have the issue with the CMOS battery resolved.Once the problem with the CMOS battery has been resolved, CAESultra will still persist with the error shown above.
