19. Install a piece of round bar stock (1) that is 44.5 mm (1.75 in.) in diameter and 69.9 mm (2.75 in.) in length, on the sprocket.20. Start the engine and move the track backward until the pressure on nut (3) is released. If necessary, tighten the track to release pressure on the nut. 21. Loosen nut (3) until it is extended beyond the end of the shaft a distance of 1.5 0.8 mm (.06 .03 in.). Install the bolt and washer in end of shaft.22. Move the track forward and remove the round bar stock.23. Install the guard over the rear pilot for the recoil spring.24. Make an adjustment to the tracks. See the Maintenance Manual.25. Install the guard for the recoil spring and the track adjuster.Disassemble And Assemble Hydraulic Track Adjusters (225D)
Start By:a. remove recoil springs and hydraulic track adjusters
Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants put into the system may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
1. Remove cylinder (1) from pilot (2). 2. Remove the four bolts that hold cover (8) and the cover.3. Remove plastic ring (7) and seal (6).4. Remove piston (4).5. Remove ring (9) and seal (5). Remove rings (3).6. Remove valve (10) and the washer. Remove valve (11) and the washer. The following steps are for the assembly of the hydraulic track adjusters. 7. Install valve (10) and the washer. Install valve (11) and the washer.8. Install rings (3) on piston (4).9. Install seal (5) on the piston with the sealing lip toward ring (9). Install ring (9). Put oil on the seal.10. Install the piston in cylinder (1). Put 0.5 Liter (1 pint) of SAE 30 engine oil in the cylinder.11. Install seal (6). Coat the seal with oil. Install the plastic ring next to seal (6) with the chamfer toward the cylinder.12. Install cover (8) and the four bolts.13. Inspect the seal in the front pilot of the recoil spring. Install a new seal as needed. Put oil on the seal. Install the cylinder in the pilot.End By:a. install recoil springs and hydraulic track adjustersRemove And Install Recoil Springs And Hydraulic Track Adjusters (229D)
1. Remove both guards from above the recoil spring assembly.2. Tighten the track with the track adjuster until most of the sag is removed.
Make sure the round bar stock used in the following step is installed between the track bushing and sprocket inside the links.
3. Install a piece of round bar stock (1) that is 76.2 mm (3.00 in.) in diameter and 95.25 mm (3.750 in.) long between the track and sprocket as shown. Make sure the bar stock makes contact with a track bushing. Start the engine and move the machine to the rear. This will cause the front idler to move backward and put the recoil spring assembly under compression. Move the machine until the length of the outer recoil spring is 60.3 cm (23.75 in.).
The recoil spring assembly is assembled with a force of approximately 211 kN (23.5 ton). Do
