(10) Cover Travel motor (1) is mounted to final drive (2). The motor shaft of the travel motor rotates the final drive in order to travel the machine. Housing / ring gear (4) of the final drive is used to rotate the drive sprocket. Rotation of the drive sprocket rotates the track in order to travel the machine.The final drive reduces the rotational speed of travel motor (1). As the rotational speed is reduced, the torque is increased. The increase of torque is transmitted to the travel operation of the machine.The output shaft of travel motor (1) is splined to sun gear (9). When the output shaft rotates, sun gear (9) rotates at the same speed as the motor shaft.Final drive (2) has two gear sets. The gear sets act as gear reductions. These stages are:

Second stage gear reductionThe first stage gear reduction includes housing / ring gear (4), planetary carrier (7), planetary gears (8) and sun gear (9). Planetary gears (8) rotate inside of housing / ring gear (4). Sun gear (9) rotates planetary gears (8). The planetary gears (8) spin on shafts that are fixed to planetary carrier (7).The second stage gear reduction includes housing / ring gear (4), planetary gears (5) and sun gear (6).
