Information:
Power Supply Test
Turn on the ignition key switch and wait until the on-board software launches on the display.
After the on-board software has launched, turn off the ignition key switch. When the ignition key switch is turned off, the battery backup should initiate a proper shutdown. If a proper shutdown does not occur, then the power supply for the battery backup is faulty.Consequences of Improper Shutdown
An improper shutdown results in:
Process errors
Corrupted on-board software files
Corrupted operating system files
Missing productivity informationA serious consequence of improper shutdowns is the failure to complete the file_cfg.txt file update. This file includes state change duration information that is used to generate machine utilization information for the productivity file.Improper shutdown also interferes with sending the shutdown message to Cat MineStar System. For example, if the radio network stops before "Safe to Shutdown" appears in the display, Cat MineStar System shows the machine as still operating. Detection of Improper Shutdown
This section describes the process that is used to detect an improper shutdown of the on-board software. The on-board software uses the following file to determine at startup if the last shutdown was performed correctly:d:\caes\temp\caes_IllegalShutdown.txt The file is created at startup and deleted during a conventional shutdown. Note: The location and name of the "caes_illegalShutdown.txt" file is not configurable. Do not modify or delete this file.Table 2 lists typical messages that occur when an improper shutdown is detected by the on-board software.
Table 2
Detection of Improper On-board Software Shutdown Messages
The following is a sample of the keys and the information that is recorded in the file. The information includes the date and time of the last startup, along with the date and time of the first good GNSS position. The first timestamp is based on the display date and time before the on-board software synchronized to GPS time. This timestamp is only as reliable as the time of the display.
$ CAES Last Startup Date =05/02/06
$ CAES Last Startup time = 08:45:11
$ CAES First GPS Date =05/02/06
$ CAES First GPS Time =08:45:12
The following is a sample of the information that is recorded in the DiagMsgLog file when the on-board software starts up after a proper shutdown. The second entry indicates that good GNSS position and time have been received. This record is not written if there is not a valid position update and time update.
Inform, 8:45:11, 41039, Startup Check - Last CAES Shutdown OK
Inform, 8:45:12, 41046, Startup Check - Add GPS - Data OK
If the on-board software finds the "caes_IllegalShutdown.txt" file at startup, then the last shutdown was not performed properly. The following is a sample of the information that is recorded in the "DiagMsgLog" file when the on-board software starts up after an improper display shutdown.
Error, 16:21:05, 41040, Startup Check - Last CAES Shutdown Illegal !!!
