Instructions To Field Test And Install Pilot Valve On A Resilient Mounting
Troubleshooting
If a tractor exhibits a high pitched, whining noise within the cab, a resiliently mounted pilot valve may be required to reduce the noise to an acceptable level. To find out if a resiliently mounted valve will actually reduce the noise, make the following test.
1. Position the ripper (if so equipped) in the carry position. Place the blade tilt cylinder in a position to perform a straight forward dozing operation. These functions will be in a nonoperating condition during the troubleshooting procedure.2. Slowly remove the cap from the filler spout on the hydraulic tank to relieve the pressure in the tank.3. Disconnect the 3T6854 Hose Assembly (pilot valve pressure line) from the tee at the rear of the hydraulic fan pump. Plug the tee opening by installing a 6V9829 Cap Assembly and 6V8397 O-Ring Seal. Plug the end of the hose with a 6V9508 Plug and 6V8397 O-Ring Seal. Replace both the floorplate and floormat. The machine should then be worked hard at operating temperature to determine if the noise disappears. If the noise is gone, the pilot valve should be installed on the resilient mounting.
Installation Procedure
1. The following parts are needed to install a resiliently mounted pilot valve: one 6Y1474 Plate Assembly, three L2070 Bolts, three 5P1075 Washers, three 6D9081 Washers, three 7T8332 Mounts, four 7K1181 Ties, Plate (A) as shown in Illustration 1 and Plate (B) as shown in Illustration 2. Make the two fabricated plates from T-1 Steel.
Illustration 1. Detail of Plate (A).
Illustration 2. Detail of Plate (B).2. Remove the floorplate, seat, seatplate, and vertical access panel to the right side of the seat.3. Disconnect the tilt linkage from the top of the pilot valve.4. Remove the mounting bolts holding the pilot valve to the side of the operator's station and lower the pilot valve until it hangs on the hoses.5. Install the three 7T8332 Mounts into the 6Y1474 Plate Assembly using liquid soap to aid in assembling the mounts on the bosses.6. Position the new 6Y1474 Plate Assembly over the original mounting blocks on the side of the operator's station. Install two 3/8" bolts through the tapped bosses of 6Y1474 Plate Assembly and into the original mounting holes for the pilot valve. This will position the 6Y1474 Plate Assembly to be used as a template for marking the locations for welding in Plates (A) and (B).7. Using the inside diameter of the three rubber mounts, scribe a circle on the wall of the operator's station. The centerline of the upper left hand circle is the centerline needed to position Plate (A) on the wall for welding. The centerline of the upper and lower right hand circles are the centerlines needed to position Plate (B) on the wall for welding.8. Remove the 6Y1474 Plate Assembly from its temporary location.9. Position the tapped hole in Plate (A) directly over the centerline of the upper left hand scribed circle. The chamfer on Plate (A) should be positioned
