Be sure the indicators and gauges function properly. Make sure the parking brake is applied. 1. Keep the engine speed low until the oil pressure indicator goes out. If the oil pressure indicator does not go out within six seconds, stop the engine. Investigate and correct the cause.2. When the starting temperature is below 0°C (32°F), move all of the hydraulic controls slowly to warm the oil. Cycle each cylinder several times. The normal warmup period is 3 to 10 minutes.3. Operate the engine under a light load for five minutes.It is possible to start the engine when the transmission control lever is not in NEUTRAL. If this happens, move the lever to NEUTRAL, then to the desired gear. 4. If the machine has a loss of power or the exhaust smoke is black, service the fuel filter. Refer to the Maintenance Guide for your machine. 5. Check the engine oil level. Keep the oil level between the ADD and FULL marks on the ENGINE RUNNING side of the dipstick. 6. Check the transmission and differential oil level, with the engine running at low idle and at operating temperature. Maintain the oil level to the FULL mark on the dipstick. 7. Observe the air cleaner indicator. Service the elements when the indicator shows red. 8. All the indicators should be off. Until the air pressure reaches 415 kPa (60 psi), the low brake pressure indicator will be ON and the low brake pressure warning horn will sound. If after starting the engine, engine oil pressure indicator (1), or brake pressure indicator (2) stay on, stop the engine and correct the cause.If coolant temperature indicator (3) comes on, operate the engine under a light load. If the indicator stays on, stop the engine and correct the cause. If hydraulic oil temperature indicator (4) stays on, operate the machine under a light load. If the indicator stays on, stop the machine and correct the cause.
