Information:

Do not attempt to move the machine without normal brake air pressure.Be sure no one is working on or near the machine to prevent injury. Keep the machine under control at all times to prevent injury.Reduce engine speed when maneuvering in tight quarters or when breaking over a rise.Select the gear range necessary before starting downgrade. Do not change gears while going downhill.A good practice is to use the same gear range going downgrade that would be used to go up the grade. 1. The machine body should be lowered and the hoist control should be in the FLOAT position. 2. The retarder control lever should be in the UP position. 3. The secondary brake lever should be in the UP position. 4. Move the parking brake switch (1) forward to the OFF position.5. Move the transmission control lever (2) to the desired direction and speed. 6. Release the service brake (3) and depress the accelerator (4).7. Operate the engine between 1200 and 2200 rpm.
Do not exceed 2400 rpm or engine damage can result.
Differential
Warm-Up
Correct oil fill is critical. Prior to any operation after maintenance or repair, an oil level check is required. Oil level check should be performed only after a sufficient period of time has been allowed for the oil to fill all final drive and differential housing compartments.
Operate the machine in fourth gear or lower, after start up, until the oil is at 180°F operating temperature. Providing a gradual warm-up period allows bearing components to maintain optimum operating settings. Operating at high speeds from a cold start causes high temperature gradients between rotating and stationary bearing components. High temperature gradients within the bearing may result in degradation of bearing component durability.Break-In
Correct oil fill is critical. As the last check in the maintenance or repair procedure, oil level should be rechecked prior to operation. Oil level check should be performed only after a sufficient period of time has been allowed for oil to fill all final drive and differential housing compartments.
Placing significant load on bearing parts at lower speeds creates a more favorable condition of contact between mating surfaces than under high speed conditions.Break-in is simply the process of conditioning the running surfaces of gears and bearing to a more optimal state. The best way to break-in gears and bearings is load the truck to a maximum of 60 to 75 percent capacity and to limit top speed hauling to fourth gear for a warmup period of approximately 15 minutes to 30 minutes.Secondary Brake System
1. If the warning alarm sounds and the brake air pressure gauge registers in the red area, stop the machine before the secondary brake applies. 2. Push the brake pedal down to stop the machine.3. If the service brake pedal does not stop the machine, pull the secondary brake lever. 4. When the machine stops, wait until the air pressure builds up. If the air pressure will not build up, have repairs made.
The secondary brake may be applied and released approximately three
