(1) Brake Electronic Control Module (ECM) The Brake Electronic Control Module (ECM) (A) is the main component in the brake electrical system. Brake ECM (A) is located in the compartment at the front of the cab. Brake ECM (A) has several input signals and output signals. Illustration 1 shows the input components and the output components for the brake electronic control system that are related to the braking system.Brake ECM (1) also controls the following systems:
Braking system
Lubrication system for the rear axle
Engine cooling fan speed
A/C compressor clutch relay and condenser relay
Brake light relayThe Brake ECM receives various inputs from the components that are shown in Illustration 1. The Brake ECM uses these inputs in order to determine if the service and retarder brakes should engage for the ARC or the parking and secondary brakes for the TCS.
