REMOVE GOVERNOR FLYWEIGHT Shield, 3406B Marine, Industrial, Generator Set, And Truck Engines; 245 Excavators And Front Shovels; 824C, 825 And 826C Tractors; 980C Loaders; 16G Motor Graders, 1264, 1257, 1265, PI1019 (Revised March, 1984) U-5 TT-0.2 See June 20, 1984 July 6, 1984 September 28, 1984 SAFETY Scrap your copies of the January 6, 1984, Service Letter and replace it with this revised Service Letter. Problem The governor flyweight shield can loosen and detach from the flyweight carrier on some 3406B Engines. If this happens the shield interferes with the flyweights and rack control linkages, causing loss of governor control. The normal operator shutdown ststem for the engine is not affected by this failure and can be used to shut the engine down. In this Product Improvement Program you are requested to remove the flyweight shield. Affected Machines And New Parts Needed All the listed machines and engines are included in this Program. Some of the engines listed will already have been reworked in accordance with PIP 1015.
