Various mechanical fuel injection pumps or electric fuel injection pumps are installed to the engines. This can lead to confusion with the replacement fuel injection pumps or servicing of the fuel injection pumps. This is due to the multiple types of fuel injection pumps and the service network that supports the fuel injection pumps.Note: Fuel injection pumps should only be replaced after a full diagnostic check of the fuel system. Refer to Troubleshooting and Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting for more information. Once the fuel system problem has been confirmed, there are two options that are dependent on the fuel system that is installed to the engine.There are two options for support:
Support through the Caterpillar dealer with replacement parts
Support through the supplier of the fuel systemThe reasons for these options are related to the service of the supplier of the fuel system and the ability to service the components of the fuel system.Fuel injection pumps that are supported by the Caterpillar dealer with replacement parts are listed below:
Bosch VP30 fuel injection pumps on 3054E and 3056E engines.
Caterpillar CR200 on C4.4 and C6.6 engines
Zexel fuel injection pumps on C1.1, C1.5 and C2.2 engines.Fuel injection pumps that are supported by the supplier of the fuel system are listed below:
Bosch VE fuel injection pumps on 3054 and 3056 engines.
Delphi on the 3054, 3056 and C4.4 (MECH) engines
Stanadyne fuel injection pumps on 3054 and 3056 engines.
Denso fuel systems on 3044C enginesNote: The Bosch VE fuel injection pumps and the Stanadyne fuel injection pumps are installed on 3054 and 3056 engines. These fuel injection pumps have the same support.All actions should be carried out in line with the Caterpillar guidelines of warranty.
