Optional Electronic Governor Harnesses
Wire Set E6 (Governor Actuator); Wire Set E8 (Magnetic Pickup 2)
If the genset has either a 2301A or a 1724 electronic governor speed control, it is necessary to move the electronic governor from the old control panel to the EMCP II. These electronic governors use a separate magnetic pickup (MPU2) and a governor actuator. The electronic governor is not to be connected to the previously installed magnetic pickup (MPU1) for EMCP II. The wires sets E6 (actuator) and E8 (MPU2) must also be installed. To move the 2301A or the 1724 electronic governor speed control from the old control panel to the EMCP II, use the following procedure.1. Remove the speed controller from the old control panel.2. There are four 6-32 nutserts inside the rear of the EMCP II (upper left hand side) to mount either the 2301A or 8290 speed controller. Mount the speed controller inside the EMCP II.3. Wire sets E6 and E8 are provided for connecting the speed controller to the actuator and to the magnetic pickup (MPU2). It is the installers responsibility to provide other wiring and proper fusing for the speed controller. For other wiring information, refer to the topic DC Schematic in the service manual SENR5809, Electronic Modular Control Panel II (EMCP II) For MUI Engines.Wire set E6 connects the governor actuator to the speed controller. Wire set E8 connects the magnetic pickup (MPU2) to the speed controller. To install the harnesses for the governor actuator (wire set E6) and for the magnetic pickup (MPU2) (wire set E8), use the following procedure.1. Locate wire set E6. It should consist of two wires: A+ and A-.2. At the engine mounted actuator, connect the ring terminals of wires A+ and A- to the appropriate terminals of the actuator.3. Route the E6 wire set along the engine, through the enclosure passage hole to the bottom of the control panel.4. Insert the E6 wire set through the conduit for the engine interconnect harness and into the control panel. The engine interconnect harness conduit is the one furthest on the left when viewed from the vandal door of the control panel. Final connection to the speed controller will occur with the installation of the E8 wire set.5. Locate wire set E8. It should consist of a yellow shielded cable containing a black wire, a white wire and a bare wire shield.6. Plug the connector of the E8 wire set into the connector of the magnetic pickup (MPU2) which is on the flywheel housing. The E8 wire set is not to be connected to the previously installed magnetic pickup (MPU1) for EMCP II.7. Route the E8 wire set along the engine, through the enclosure passage hole to the bottom of the control panel.8. Insert the E8 wire set through the conduit for the engine interconnect harness and into the control panel. The engine interconnect harness conduit is the one furthest on the left when viewed from the vandal door of the control panel.9. Open the front
