Replacement of the ECM
Connect Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET ) to the service tool connector.
Using Cat ET, capture an "ECM Replacement File". The "ECM Replacement File" will reduce the time to program the new ECM. Each parameter will require 1 minute to reprogram. Record customer specified parameters from the failed ECM. If the electronic service tool will not communicate, refer to Troubleshooting, "Electronic Service Tool Does Not Communicate" or record the parameters from the failed ECM.
Replace the faulty ECM, refer to Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors" for additional information about the ECM connectors.
Use the "ECM Replacement File" to reprogram the ECM or use the manually recorded parameters from Step 2.
