Remove the transmission hydraulic control valve.
Remove the transfer gears.

Attach Tooling (A), Tooling (B), and a suitable lifting device to transmission (1). The weight of transmission (1) is approximately 794 kg (1750 lb). Position transmission (1) onto Tooling (C).

Remove cover (2).

Remove speed sensor (3).

Remove speed sensor (5).
Attach Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device to transmission planetary (4) and torque converter (6). The weight of transmission planetary (4) and torque converter (6) as a unit is approximately 703 kg (1550 lb). Remove bolts (7). Remove transmission planetary (4) and torque converter (6) as a unit from the case.
Position transmission planetary (4) and torque converter (6) as a unit onto suitable blocks.

Use Tooling (A), Tooling (D), and a suitable lifting device to position transmission planetary (4) and torque converter (6) onto suitable cribbing, as shown.

Remove retaining ring (9) and washer (10) from shaft (8).

Attach Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device to torque converter (6). The weight of torque converter (6) is approximately 70 kg (154 lb). Remove nuts (11) and torque converter (6) from transmission planetary (4). Installation Procedure
Install torque converter (6) in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten speed sensor (3) to a torque of 37 4 N m (27 3 lb ft).
