Inter Axle and Cross Axle Differential/Automatic Traction Control (ATC) Functions
The Automatic Traction Control (ATC) system on 735C through 745C Articulated Trucks is automatic. The ATC system does not require any input from the operator for proper operation. The system is designed to function in various conditions that may be encountered during operations. When the system senses a difference between wheel speed (slippage) across an axle, the appropriate "Differential Lock Clutch" is engaged. If a difference is sensed between the front axle and the rear axle, the system engages the "Interaxle Differential Lock Clutch". The ATC automatically disengages the clutches when wheel slippage is no longer detected.Prior to beginning troubleshooting on the ATC system, review System Operation / Testing and Adjusting, UENR4226, "735C Articulated Trucks Machine System Operation / T&A (combined)". The operation of the ATC is described here in more detail.Diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) and Event codes (EID) are provided to protect the ATC system and provide guidance in troubleshooting hardware and software failures.Any ATC fault code can be viewed on the "Color Multi Purpose Display" (CMPD) or in Cat® ET.Note: The troubleshooting information is intended to aid in diagnosing a given problem. The possible causes are ordered for the most probable cause to the least probable cause. the possible causes should be examined until the problem is resolved.Refer to the "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting" section of this manual before performing any troubleshooting.Prior to starting the troubleshooting process, use Cat ET to diagnose any fault codes that are present. Use the troubleshooting from this manual to correct any problems related to the electrical system.Automatic Traction Control (ATC) Fault Lamp On Dash Panel

(1) ATC Fault indicator lampTCS Lamp will turn ON when any of the following conditions are true:
The temperature of the transmission oil exceeds 110° C (230° F).
Failure to receive Transmission and Engine parameter information over data link.
Any of the Automatic Traction Control solenoids are faulted.
Any of the wheel speed sensors are faulted.
The front IMU sensor has faulted.
Events for the Automatic Traction Control are active.

Left And Right Wheels On A Given Axle Are Not Locking Together In Low Traction Conditions (possible causes)
ATC-related fault codes have disabled automatic traction control. Check for ATC-related fault codes using CMPD or Cat® ET, use troubleshooting procedures outlines in this manual to correct the issue.
ATC is not turned ON. In Cat ET check to see that ATC is turned ON.
The "Cross Axle Differential Lock Clutch" pressure is low. Perform the "ATC Cross Axle Differential System Pressure Checks" found in System Operation / Testing and Adjusting, UENR4226, "735C Articulated Trucks Machine System Operation / T&A (combined).". If the Cross Axle Differential Supply pressure is correct but the Cross Axle Differential Lock Clutch Pressure is low, check for a diagnostic code related to the "Differential Lock" solenoid. If the solenoid is energized correctly, check for plugged screens 6E-5066 in the Differential Lock solenoid manifold
