Information:
The purpose of this section is to describe in detail the function of each harness connection to the Main Electronic Control Box. Since these functions these functions are fully defined by the active software, this section is only relevant when the resident software is active. Customized functions defined by customized optional software are beyond the scope of this manual. Connector J1 Wire Number 1. Gen-Load:
This input accepts a control-level voltage referenced to connector J1 wire number 15. A de-energized input inhibits loading of the generator. This input should be energized anytime generator load is desired and should be de-energized at all other times.Connector J1 Wire Number 2. Wheel-Slip:
This input accepts a control level voltage referenced to connector J1 wire number 15. A de-energized input causes gradual reduction of load on the generator. An energized input causes gradual increase of load on the generator up to the appropriate power for the selected notch. If GEN-LOAD is de-energized this input has no effect. This input is intended to be connected to the output of a wheel slip sensing system in such a way as to cause power to be decreased when the wheels are slipping and then reapply the power when the slip condition clears. The rates of power ramp-down and power ramp-up are controlled by two potentiometers located under plugs P3 and P2 on the personality module of the control box (See Photo) If wheel-slip function is not being used, it must be energized to allow generator loading.Connector J2 Wire Number 9. Lamp Relay:
This output should be connected to a CAT P/N xyxxxx 12VDC relay. The contacts of this relay can be used to control a cab warning light to indicate malfunction of the control system. This output will not drive a standard locomotive relay. The relay will be energized under the following conditions:1. For 10 seconds following application of power to the control module. This is intended as a lamp test.2. On shutdown of the engine if any control system problems have been diagnosed.3. While the engine is running if any major control problems are diagnosed. Use of this output is optional.Connector J1 Wire Number 4. Exciter Sink:
This input should be connected, through FLYBACK any desired interlocks, to the positive terminal of the power supply to be used to drive the generator exciter field for load control.Connector J1 Wire Number 5. Exciter Sink:
Connections to this terminal should be determined by referring to the schematic in Appendix A.Connector J1 Wire Number 6. Exciter Source:
Connections to this terminal should be determined by referring to the schematic in Appendix A.Connector J1 Wire Number 7. Exciter Source:
This input should be connected to the FLYBACK negative terminal of the power supply to be used to drive the generator exciter field.Connector J1 Wire Number 8. +V
