Block diagram of the Rear Transmission ECM ( 657G Scraper)The Rear Transmission ECM (scraper) receives the actual gear information and status of the Neutral/Run switch from the tractor's Transmission/Chassis ECM over the Cat Data Link. The operation of the scraper's transmission is controlled by the Neutral/Run switch that is located in the cab. When the Rear Transmission ECM (scraper) is in the "RUN" mode the control will automatically shift the scraper's transmission in order to correspond to the actual gear of the tractor's transmission. When the Rear Transmission ECM (scraper) is in the "NEUTRAL" mode the scraper's transmission is in neutral and the transmission will not shift. The Rear Transmission ECM (scraper) controls the starting of the scraper's engine. The control also acts as an extended output module that is coupled to the tractor via the Cat Data Link. This reduces the number of hard wired connections between the scraper and the tractor.
