1. With the engine running, move tow point selector switch (1) to MANUAL. 2. Move tow point control switch (2) to UP or DOWN until the hole in tow arm (3) is aligned with the hole in support (4).3. Install the pin through tow arm (3) and support (4).4. Repeat for the other side of the machine.Tow Point Cylinders - Enable
1. With the engine running, move tow point selector switch (1) to MANUAL.2. Move tow point control switch (2) to UP or DOWN until the pin can be removed.3. Repeat for the other side of the machine.Positioning the Paver
Drive the machine to the starting point and align it with the edge of the grade, curb, gutter, mat or other reference to be used. Position the steering indicator so that it and the steering reference are easily visible.Screed Adjustment
For manual screed operation, the tow point pins (1) should be installed through tow arms (2) and support plates (3).For automatic operation tow point cylinders should be pinned to the tow arms. The cylinders should be adjusted to place the tow points at approximately the center of vertical travel.1. If a hydraulically extendable screed is being used, extend the screed to the desired mat width. Raise the screed extensions above the level of the main screed. 2. Place a wooden block directly under the thickness control at each end of the main screed. The blocks should be about 600 mm (2 ft) long for a fixed width screed or about 1200 mm (4 ft) long for a hydraulically extendable screed. They should extend from the front of the screed to the rear of the screed or to the rear of the screed extensions. The blocks should be approximately 25% thicker (depending on the mix) than the thickness wanted in the final compacted mat.3. If a hydraulically extendable screed is being used, place two more blocks under the outer ends of the extensions. These blocks need be only 600 mm (2 ft) long.4. Lower the screed onto the blocks. Only the main screed should be touching blocks. Screed extensions, if equipped, should be above all blocks. 5. Turn the thickness control cranks until they are in the unloaded (slack) position. The cranks can be turned in either direction with little or no resistance when in this position.6. Turn each thickness control crank one complete turn clockwise. This creates an initial angle of attack of approximately 2 mm (.10 in).7. If equipped, use the screed extension height adjustment cranks to lower the extensions onto the 1200 mm (4 ft) blocks. Then use the screed extension slope controls to lower the outer ends of the extensions onto the 600 mm (2 ft) blocks. 8. Turn the end plate cranks to set the end plate shoes flush with the grade.9. If it is necessary to start the slab from near the base level, raise the screed and replace the wooden blocks
