Relevant Engine Parameter Group Setpoints
The engine setpoint verification procedure is used in order to adjust the relevant configuration setpoints in the configuration parameter groups that are used during normal operation. The following conditions are required before the engine setpoints are verified:
The relevant setpoints listed in each configuration parameter group must be correct for the engine application
No shutdown events should be present at the initial start up. If necessary, troubleshoot, correct, and reset any and all shutdown events.During the procedure, each configuration setpoint that is to be adjusted should be recorded, and then returned to the original setting after the setpoint has been verified.Note: Prior to performing this procedure, a service replacement file can be saved using Caterpillar Electronic Technician Cat ET. The replacement file is used in order to record the configuration to allow reprogramming the control with the original setpoints after the procedure has been completed.Engine Protection Events Configuration

Overspeed
Setpoint: Engine Over Speed Shutdown ThresholdNote: This is a password protected Level 3 setpoint. The passwords only affect changing parameters from the EMCP 4 control panel display. Start the engine and run the engine at its rated speed.
Adjust the setpoint value to a value that is below the speed that the engine is running, and then press the "OK" key. An engine overspeed shutdown event will immediately occur.
View the event in the event log. Reference: Refer to the Systems Operation, "Event Viewing" section of this manual.
Reset the event. Reference: Refer to the Systems Operation, "Event Resetting" section of this manual.
Return the setpoint value to its original value. Low Oil Pressure
Setpoint: Low Engine Oil Pressure Shutdown Event Threshold
Start the engine and run the engine at its rated speed.
Adjust the setpoint value to a value that is above the oil pressure that is being displayed, and then press the "OK" key a shutdown event will occur after the programmable time delay has expired. The default for this delay is
