Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.Problem
The 235-0727 Pin Cartridge As has failed on 992G Wheel Loaders. There have been several failure modes.
Some Pin Cartridge Assemblies have leaked due to problems with the internal assembly. This issue has allowed all of the oil to escape which leads to failure of the pin.
The interference fit between the Pin Cartridge Assembly and the boom slips under load. The boom shifts to one side and the boom rubs against the loader frame or the bucket.
After a period of use, some Pin Cartridge Assemblies cannot be removed with standard service tools. This issue has caused the need to cut out the Pin Cartridge Assembly .Solution
Remove any Pin Cartridge Assembly that is leaking oil or any Pin Cartridge Assembly that is making a loud noise when the linkage moves. Replace these Pin Cartridge Assemblies. Measure both boom bores in order to confirm that the bores are the correct size before a new Pin Cartridge Assembly is installed. The correct size for the right-hand bore is 230.8 0.05 mm (9.086 0.002 inch). The correct size for the left-hand bore is 229.9 0.05 mm (9.051 0.002 inch). If the boom bores are not the correct size, weld the bores and line bore the bores before a new Pin Cartridge Assembly is installed.
If the boom has shifted and the boom is rubbing against the loader frame or the bucket, remove the Pin Cartridge Assembly. Inspect the Pin Cartridge Assembly for damage or leaks. The Pin Cartridge Assembly should be replaced only if the assembly is badly damaged or if the assembly is leaking oil. Scratches on the surface of
