Information:

11. Fasten tooling (A) and a hoist to the flange of axle shaft (31), and remove rear axle housing (1) from tooling (C). Install tooling (A) on the flange of rear axle housing (1). Use tooling (A) and a hoist and install rear axle housing (1) on tooling (C) as shown.12. Support axle shaft assembly (31) with wood blocks (30). This will prevent the axle shaft assembly from falling when tooling (F) is removed. Remove tooling (F) and the shims. 13. Install planet gear shaft (41) then spacer (39) in planetary gear (37). Install roller bearings (38) on each side of spacer (39) and around planet gear shaft (41). Install thrust washers (40) on each end of planetary gear (37). The washers will hold the roller bearings in place. Remove planet gear shaft (41). Put the gear assembly in position in the planetary gear group and install planet gear shaft (41).14. Install retainer (36) and rotate the retainer to hold planet gear shaft (41) in the planetary gear group.15. Repeat Steps 13 and 14 to install the remaining two planetary gear assemblies.16. To hold retainer (32) in position, bend each end of the retainer down. 17. Heat bearing cone (35) to a maximum temperature of 135° C (275° F) and install the bearing cone on planetary gear group (34). The following step is necessary to ensure that the components are seated properly in order to obtain the correct axle shaft end play.
When Axle shaft (31) is located in tooling (C) in a vertical position with washer (33) and retaining bolt (29) removed, the axle shaft must be supported from underneath with wood blocks to prevent the axle shaft from falling from the rear axle housing.
18. Put planetary gear group (34) in position in rear axle housing (1). Install washer (33) and retaining bolt (29). Do not install spacer (32) at this time. Tighten the retaining bolt to a torque of 340 N m (250 lb ft). Rotate the axle flange a minimum of three revolutions. Retorque retaining bolt (29) to a torque of 340 N m (250 lb ft). Install a 9R2445 Spacer in place of original spacer (32). This oversized spacer will be used to ensure end play in the axle shaft.19. Remove retaining bolt (29) and washer (33). Then install the oversized spacer, washer (33) and retaining bolt (29). Tighten the retaining bolt to a torque of 445 N m (325 lb ft).
Do not rotate rear axle housing (1) in tooling (C) unless nylon strap (47) is attached to the small end of the rear axle housing as shown. Do not rotate the rear axle housing past the horizontal position. If the rear axle housing is rotated past the horizontal position while mounted on tooling (C), tooling (C) will fall over, resulting in personal injury or damage to the rear axle housing.
20. Fasten nylon strap (47) and a hoist to the small end of rear axle housing (1). Rotate the rear axle housing 90° as shown.
