Illustration 4. Reference letters are shown in the chart.INSTALLATION: When a conversion is made to a former oil level gauge, be sure to clean the gauge thoroughly before installation. When the engine oil level is changed, either by conversion of the existing gauge or installation of a new gauge, use the procedure that follows:
1 Drain the oil from the crankcase end install new oil filters.2 Install the oil level gauge and fill the crankcase with 13.24 liters (14 quarts) of the correct type and grade of oil as shown in the guide sent with the engine from the factory. For engines that have special equipment (like an auxiliary filter) which has an effect on crankcase capacity, adjust the amount of oil used to fill the crankcase as necessary.3 Start the engine and run until the engine temperature is normal, then stop the engine.4 After an interval of not less than ten minutes, check the oil level. If the oil level is not at the "FULL" mark, check the dimensions used and/or check to be sure the correct gauge is in the engine.Use of this installation procedure permits a double check to make sure the engine has the correct amount of oil for the specific design and application of the engine.
