Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the water separator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Separator (Primary Fuel Filter) - Remove".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Remove drain valve (17) from bowl (13). Remove washer (16) from the valve.
Loosen head (11). Remove bowl (13) from element (8) .
Remove bolt (15) from bowl (13). Remove seal (14) from the bolt.
Remove bowl (13) from head (11). Remove seal (10) and seal (12) from the head.
Remove ring (9) and element (8) from filter base (4) .
Remove seal (7) from filter base (4) .
Remove nut (1) and cap (2) from filter base (4). Remove seal (3) from the cap.
Remove plug (6) from filter base (4). Remove washer (5) from the plug.
