Never visually inspect the vent holes or valves to see if grease or oil is coming out of them. Make sure the vent holes are clean before the tension is released on the track. Watch the cylinder to see that it moves.

(1) Correct adjustment gives 11/2 to 2 in. (38.1 to 50.8 mm) curve (sag) in the track halfway between carrier roller and front idler. Procedure for checking track sag:1. Move the machine forward for a distance that is 2 times the length of the machine. Let it come to a stop without use of the brakes.2. Move the machine slowly forward until a track pin is directly above the front carrier roller.3. Put a tight line between the carrier roller and the front idler from the surfaces that make contact with the track links.4. Measure the distance from the tight line to the lowest point of sag of the track links. This is the correct measurement of the track sag.5. Measure the sag when the machine is in its working condition.
