Information:

Personal injury can result from contact with refrigerant. This system is under pressure at all times, engine running or not. Heat should never be applied to a charged system. Contact with refrigerant can cause frost bite. Keep face and hands away to help prevent injury.Protective goggles must always be worn when refrigerant lines are opened, even if the gauges indicate the system is empty of refrigerant.Always use precaution when a fitting is removed. Slowly loosen the fitting. If the system is still under pressure, release it slowly in a well ventilated area.Personal injury or death can result from inhaling refrigerant through a lit cigarette.Inhaling air conditioner refrigerant gas through a lit cigarette or other smoking method or inhaling fumes released from a flame contacting air conditioner refrigerant gas, can cause bodily harm or death.Do not smoke when servicing air conditioners or wherever refrigerant gas may be present. Before any checks of the air conditioning and heating system are made, move the machine to a smooth horizontal surface. Lower all implements to the ground. Make sure the transmission is in neutral or park and that the parking brake is engaged. Keep all other personnel either away from the machine or where they can be seen.

Connect the manifold gauge set to the two service ports on compressor (9). One service port is on the discharge of the compressor. The other service port is on the suction to the compressor. Connect blue hose (3) from the left gauge to the service port. Blue hose (3) connects to the suction side of the compressor. Connect red hose (7) from the right gauge to the service port on the discharge side of the compressor. Make sure the service coupling valves are turned counterclockwise for installation. Turn the service coupling valves clockwise in order to open the valves.

(11) Charging valve (12) Sleeve (13) Service coupling valve
Make sure that both hand valves on the manifold gauge set are closed. Turn the valves clockwise in order to close the valves.
Put a clean rag over the loosened fitting for the yellow charging hose at the manifold gauge set. The rag over the fitting will prevent oil spray from the compressor. Open left hand valve (2) half of a turn. The left hand valve is on the suction side. Allow the valve to remain open for 2 or 3 seconds in order to release the air from the blue hose. The valve will also release air from the manifold gauge set. Close the hand valve after 2 or 3 seconds. Do the same procedure for the right hand valve. Tighten the fittings for the yellow charging hose at the manifold gauge set.
