3616 (1PD) Diesel EnginesDescription of Change: A new valve rocker arm assembly and rocker arm adjusting screw are used on these engines. The new rocker arm adjusting screw does not include the splines for the "click" adjusting feature. The removal of the splines made the new adjusting screw 40 percent stronger than the former adjusting screw. The new valve rocker arm assembly does not include the counterbore required for the detent spring and plunger (used with the splines in the former rocker arm adjusting screw for the "click" adjusting feature).
Adaptable To: The new 128-5680 Valve Rocker Arm Assembly and 128-5683 Rocker Arm Adjusting Screw, when used together, replace the former 7E-7204 Valve Rocker Arm Assembly and 7W-7231 Rocker Arm Adjusting Screw. The former valve rocker arm assembly is canceled. Do NOT use a new 128-5683 Rocker Arm Adjusting Screw in a former 7E-7204 Valve Rocker Arm Assembly unless the following changes are made:
1. Remove the 7W-7232 Adapter and 5P-7814 Seal from the rocker arm assembly.2, Remove and discard the 2S-3992 Spring and 2S-3991 Plunger from the adapter.3. Install the 7W-7232 Adapter and 5P-7814 Seal (replace the seal if necessary) in the rocker arm assembly.
