Place straight edge (1) on left main screed plate (2) along the outboard edge of the plate. Ensure that the straight edge extends beyond rear of extender plate (3) .

Measure distance (A) between straight edge (1) and extender plate (3) at the front edge of the extender plate. The distance should be 6 mm (+0.5, 0 mm) (0.24 inch (+0.02, 0 inch)).
Measure distance (B) between straight edge (1) and extender plate (3) at the rear of the extender plate. The distance should be 4 mm (0,-0.5 mm) (0.16 inch (0, -0.02 inch)).Note: Following Illustration 2, the difference between distance (A) and (B) should be 2 - 3 mm (0.08 - 0.12 inch).

Place straight edge (1) on left main screed plate (2) along the inboard edge of the plate. Perform Step 6 and Step 7 with the straight edge in this position.
If both measurements that were recorded in Step 6 and in Step 7 are within the specification, the angle of attack for the extender is correct. If either of the measurements that were recorded in Step 6 or in Step 7 are outside the specification, go to Step 10.

Loosen locknut (4) at the outboard edge of left extender (3) .

Loosen locknut (5) at the inboard edge of left extender (3) .

Use the adjuster for extender (6) and the adjuster for extender (7) in order to set the left extender to the correct height.
Tighten locknut (4) . Tighten locknut (5) .Note: If the extender cannot be set to the correct height, replace the screed plates, and go to Step 5. If the extender cannot be adjusted to the correct height after replacing the screed plate, the screed is damaged.
