EXTENSION-LONG 8S8293 - Caterpillar

1. Put a block of wood under the front end of the drive shaft (1). Remove four bolts (2). Fasten straps and one of the 8S9906 Ratchet Assemblies in tooling (A) to the front end of the drive shaft. 2. Remove four bolts (3) from the rear end of the drive shaft and make a separation between the drive shaft and yoke. Pull drive shaft through the machine's frame.3. Fasten straps and the other 8S9906 Ratchet Assemblies in tooling (A) to the rear end of the drive shaft. 4. Lift and lower tooling (A) as needed to remove the drive shaft from the machine. The weight of the drive shaft is 122 kg (270 lb).Install Drive Shaft (Center)
1. Fasten straps and tooling (A) to the front and rear of the drive shaft. Lift and lower the drive shaft to put it in the center of the machine. 2. Remove the straps from the rear end of the drive shaft and push it through the machine's frame. 3. Make a connection between yoke and the spider and bearing assembly, then install four bolts (2). Tighten these bolts to a torque of 470 45 N m (350 35 lb ft). 4. Put a block of wood in position as shown. Remove straps and tooling (A) from the front of drive shaft and slide it to front of machine. Make a connection between yoke and spider and bearing assembly, then install four bolts (3). Tighten these bolts to a torque of 470 45 N m (350 35 lb ft).
