Connections of the Blower Motor Command
This diagnostic code is associated with the Blower Motor Command. The FMI 05 diagnostic code is activated when the Relay Driver Module detects a below normal current for the command circuit. This diagnostic code is activated on the Implement ECM via CAN Datalink.The following conditions that cause the diagnostic code to be activated are listed below:
The energize circuit of the blower command is open.
The return circuit of the blower command is open.
The blower driver module has failed.
The Relay Driver Module has failed. This condition is unlikely. Note: Before performing this procedure, inspect the harness connectors that are involved in the circuit. Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean, that all connections are secure and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure. Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear these diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code has been corrected.Test Step 1. CHECK THE BLOWER DRIVER MODULE
Disconnect the blower module from the machine harness.
At the machine harness connector for the blower module, place a jumper wire from contact C29-1 (wire C584-WH(White)) to contact C34-2 (wire 200-BK(Black)).
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
Observe the status of the CID 2812 FMI 05 diagnostic code. Expected Result:The CID 2812 FMI 05 diagnostic code is no longer active. A CID 2812 FMI 06 diagnostic code becomes active when the jumper wire is connected.Results:
OK - The CID 2812 FMI 05 diagnostic code is no longer active. A CID 2812 FMI 06 diagnostic code becomes active when the jumper wire is connected. The blower module has failed.Repair: Repeat this Test Step "CHECK THE BLOWER DRIVER MODULE" in order to verify the module failure. Replace the module. Verify that the new module corrects the problem.STOP
NOT OK - The CID 2812 FMI 05 diagnostic code remains active. The jumper wire does not affect the status of the active diagnostic code. The module is not causing the problem. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPENThe jumper wire that was installed in the previous test step remains in place.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the connector for the machine harness J1 from the Relay Driver Module.
At the machine harness connector J1 for the RDM, measure the resistance from contact J1-15 (wire C584-WH(White)) to contact C34-2 (wire 200-BK(Black)).
While the resistance measurements are observed, perform the following:
Wiggle the machine harness connectors for the RDM.
Wiggle the machine harness connector for the blower module.
Gently pull on the wires and wiggle the wires.Expected Result:The resistance
