Introduction
This instruction provides the necessary procedure for field installation of upgraded electrical components where the original parts used screws, studs, blade, bullet or MS Connectors instead of Sure-Seal Connectors.Sure-Seal Connectors offer improved reliability over the mentioned terminals. Installation of an upgraded component in place of the former component requires installation of a mating Sure-Seal connector on the machine harness. Use a 6V3000 Sure-Seal Repair Kit. It has all the necessary parts and tooling required. The use of a Sure-Seal Clip is required to prevent the separation of Sure-Seal Connectors. The assembled connector is installed in the clip to keep it fastened. There are three types of retainer clips for use in different applications. One type has a hole for a 3/8" bolt. When installed, the clip will give additional support for the wire harness. The other two types of clips are for in-line use, one of which has a strap that fastens around the wire harness. The following illustration and chart show the three types of retainer clips and the sizes that fit the Sure-Seal Connectors.
Types of retainer clips.Do not perform any procedure, outlined in this publication, or order any parts until you read and understand the information contained within.Installation Schematics
2-Wire Component
Typical Schematic (2 Wire Component)
(A) Add to machine harness in place of original connections. (B) Machine Harness. (C) Good frame ground or 200-BK in harness. (D) Component - Switch, Lamp, Solenoid, etc.3-Wire Component
Typical Schematic (3-Wire Connector)
(A) Add to machine harness in place of original terminals. (B) Good frame ground or 200-BK in harness. (C) Connect to machine harness as required. (D) N/C (Normally Closed). (E) N/O (Normally Open). (F) Common. (G) Component - Switch, etc.Where a single terminal component is being replaced with a two wire Sure-Seal connector component, add a ground wire from the new Sure-Seal connector on the machine harness to a good frame ground as shown. Some installations may already use a 200-Bk wire to one side of the component being replaced. If so, connect it into the new Sure-Seal connector as shown in the diagram.
